New People at BSI

We are pleased to announce that effective March 12, 2012, Mr. Jeffrey Myers joined BSI as an Account Manager in our Midwest Region, reporting to Darrell Christopher.

Jeff comes to us following a 27 year career with Sun Chemical Inks and Pigments.  In that time he held several positions including as a Regional Technical Manager, Quality Control Laboratory Manager and National Heatset Technical Specialist.  In these various roles he gained extensive experience in product development, sales and technical service.

Jeff's sales territory will comprise Southern Ohio, Southern Indiana and Kentucky.

We are pleased to announce that effective January 1, 2012, Bill Floyd, from Brenntag Solutions Group will join BSI as a Market Manager - ACES, reporting to Lance Kitzelman and Frank Battaglia.

Bill has been with the Brenntag Solutions Group for the last four years.  He spent nineteen with Silberline Manufacturing Co as Market Manager for Industrial Coating Market.

Bill is a graduate of Bloomsburg University of PA where he earned a BA in Business Administration and an Associates Degree in Natural Science from Lehigh Carbon Community College.

BSI is very pleased to announce that Mr. Bill Lewis has joined Brenntag Solutions Group and Brenntag Specialties as Business Development Manager, effective January 3, 2012.

Bill has been in the chemical distribution business for the past 30 years.  He spent a total of twenty-one years with Univar, in which he held several commercial positions.  The last twelve years Bill had a distinguished career as Business Development Manager with Chempoint, and brings with him a wealth of knowledge and a strong network throughout the industries we serve.

Bill attended Ithaca College where he earned a BA in Economics, and minors in Marketing and Speech Communications.

We are pleased to announce that effective January 30, 2012, Meena Haidari, from Brenntag Pacific will join BSI as an Account Manager in the Western Region, reporting to Jay Fitzpatrick.

Meena joined Brenntag Pacific as a Food lndustry Specialist in January, 2008, after having previously held customer service and sales positions with Univar.  She is a graduate of The University of California at San Diego with a degree in Biology.

This is a key step in further development of the combined BS|/Brenntag Pacific approach to the market.  While the two companies have distinct business goals and value propositions, it is clear that a cooperative and coordinated approach to several key industry segments brings the most value to our mutual customers and Brenntag.

Bret Horaace - Marketing Director - Regulated Industries

BSI is pleased to announce that Mr. Bret Horace has been promoted to the position of Marketing Director – Regulated Industries, for Brenntag Specialties, Inc., effective November 1, 2011.

For the past five years, Bret has done an outstanding job in supporting and managing Brenntag North America’s Food Ingredient business as Food Industry Marketing Director.  Bret was responsible for creating the successful sales and marketing platform, training programs, and other valuable tools we use to help keep the sales force focused on the food ingredient marketplace, and our business growing. 

As the BSI Regulated Industry Marketing Director, Bret will oversee all marketing activities in Food, Pharmaceutical and Personal Care.  This is a new role for BSI, and one that fits well with the timing of our expansion and growth of the Specialties business in the Regulated Industries.

John Down - IT Administrator

We are pleased to announce that effective October 3, 2011 John Down has joined Brenntag Specialties in the role of lT Administrator in our South Plainfield, NJ office.

John has a bachelor's degree in Computer Science from The City University of New York, College of Staten lsland.  He brings with him 15 years of systems administration experience, managing network operations and providing day-today technical support for 250 users.

Steven Mensen - Account Manager

We are pleased to announce that effective October 3, 2011 Steven Mensen will join BSI as an Account Manager in the Midwest Region, reporting to Darrell Christopher.

Steve brings to us a wealth of experience in several areas critical to BSI's success.  For the past 10 years, Steve has been employed at Maroon Inc., a regional specialty chemical distributor based in Ohio.  In his time at Maroon, he held both field and inside sales positions and also had responsibilities in customer service, marketing and principal support.

Prior to joining Maroon, he spent two years at another distributor, JH Hinz following an 18 year career at PPG where he worked in coating manufacturing operations.

Maegan Samsill - Inside Sales Representative

BSI is pleased to announce that effective July 11, 2011 we have hired Maegan Samsill for the position of Inside Sales Representative, reporting to Rich Joyce, Northeast Regional Sales Manager.

Maegan is a recent graduate of the Texas A&M University, with a degree in Industrial Distribution that includes a Medical Distribution Certification.  Maegan is a significant hire, further strengthening the partnership built between Brenntag North America and the Industrial Engineering department at TAMU.

Robert Singer - Market Development Specialist

BSI is pleased to announce that on May 23rd, Mr. Robert Singer will joined BSI in the position of Market Development Specialist, reporting to Rich Stewart, Vice President - Sales.

Bob's role with the company will be to coordinate sales activity and work closely with Market Managers on new product introductions.  He will concentrate on products where the technology is new to BSI, and the market applications are, or may be limited.  His broad range of experience covers many product technologies, and he has worked in all of the major industry segments that are of strategic importance to BSI.

Bob earned a Chemical Engineering degree from the University of Maryland.

Terry Lee-Smith - Supply Chain Manager

BSI is pleased to announce that effective January 3, 2011, we have hired Terry Lee-Smith for the position of Supply Chain Manager. 

Terry comes to us with 15 years of supply chain experience and has extensive knowledge in the areas of bulk logistics / transportation.

In order to provide a unified approach to our purchasing function, develop guidelines for our purchasing decisions, and provide detail analysis in reporting our inventory position, BSI embarked on changing our approach to inventory control through “Supply Chain Managment”.  It is an approach intended to evaluate our daily needs for inventory while maximizing our efficiencies throughout our chain of principals, warehouses and logistics providers to deliver on our quality objectives to our customers. 

Terry attended William Paterson College where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications.

BSI is pleased to announce that effective January 3, 2011 we have hired Joseph S. Giaimo for the position of Market Manager - Pharmaceuticals and Nutraceuticals, reporting to Ted Hubabrd, Executive Vice President.

Joe will be working initially on the Scora product line establishing their range of  granulated products in the US.  For the past 16 years, Joe had been employed by Particle Dynamics in a variety of positions, most recently as Vice President - International Sales.  Joe's Technical, Application and presentation skills, along with his extensive knowledge of the Pharma customer base will be a positive influence in the development of BSI's Pharmaceutical and Nutraceutical program. 

Joe will also serve as Director of National Accounts for the Pharmaceutical and Nutraceutical markets.

Joe attended Fairleigh Dickenson University where he received a Bachelors degree in Biochemistry and an MBA degree in Finance.

BSI is pleased to announce that effective December 1, 2010 we have hired Petra Gill for the position of Regional Manager, Mid-Atlantic, reporting to Rich Stewart., Vice President of Sales.

In this position, Petra will be responsible for supervising the sales activity for five Account Managers in the region.  She will also develop and maintain a personal sales territory.  Her extensive product, technical and customer knowledge will help considerably in the development of BSI's business in the region.

For the past 12 years, Petra has been a valued member of the Brenntag Northeast sales team, including being named BNE's Sales Rep of the Year.   An announcement on Petra's replacement in BNE sales territory will be forthcoming soon.   Prior to joining Brenntag (Textile Chemical at the time) she held Market Development and Tech Service positions with PQ Corporation in Valley Forge, PA. 

Petra attended Penn State where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Ceramic Science and Engineering as well as Masters Degrees in both Materials Engineering and Business Administration. 

Bill Stobierski - Senior Account Manager - Southeast Region

BSI is pleased to announce that effective November 18, 2010, William (Bill) Stobierski will join BSI as a Senior Account Manager in our Southeast Region, reporting to Michael Boland.

Bill has been employed by Kohl Marketing for the past 14 years.   The last five years he has been primarily a Marketing Manager for Kohl and was a Regional Sales Representative prior to that.  He started his career in the chemical industry as a Sales Representative for Lawter International calling primarily in the ink market.  Bill's application and customer knowledge translate directly into several key product lines for BSI, particularly the ink market where the addition of Aqualon, Wacker SVRs and most recently the Doublebond line give us an excellent product portfolio.

Bill is a graduate of De Paul University with a Degree in Accounting.

BSI is pleased to announce that Rani Maloney has joined BSI effective November 1, 2010 as Director of Regulatory Affairs.  Rani has experience in both Personal Care and Pharmaceutical markets, and in her most recent role was Manager of Quality Systems for Core Lab Partners in Princeton, NJ.

Rani is a graduate of Rutgers Cook College and has her MBA from the University of Phoenix.  Rani’s education and background will enhance BSI’s ability to grow in the ever changing regulated markets we now serve.

In her new role based in South Plainfield, NJ Rani will be responsible for BSI’s compliance with FDA guidelines, CFR rule updates and changes and will join the BSI quality team.

BSI is pleased to announce that effective November 1, 2010, Stefanie Stewart will join BSI as an Account Manager in our Northeast region, reporting to Rich Joyce.  Previously, Stefanie had worked with the Brenntag Solutions Group (BSG) where she had been instrumental in growing BSI's business in several key product lines, including the Ciba Stabilizers (recently purchased by BASF) and the BASF Effect Pigments.

Stefanie graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 2007 with a Bachelors Degree in Biology and a minor in Business Administration.  She joined BSG shortly thereafter and has been with them since.

Stefanie's account base will include primarily Food, Pharma and Personnel Care accounts from the N.Y.C. Metro area and Northern N.J.

BSI is pleased to announce that effective October 11, 2010,  Ms. Barbara Penunuri has accepted a position as Market Development Specialist.  In her role, she will support commercial and technical activities in the construction market.   Barbara will report to Jay Fitzpatrick and work primarily in the West region, where BSI plans to add significant supplier/product depth for the construction market.

Barbara has been involved with construction applications for more than 15 years.  Most recently, she had sales and technical service responsibilities in a broad range of applications including grout, mortar, stucco, architectural block, concrete pavers, roof tile, manufactured stone, ready mixes, and decorative finishes.  She served as Quality Manager, Technical Services Manager, and then Technical Director of Cathay Pigments USA, a leading supplier of iron oxides to the construction market.  Prior to joining Cathay, Barbara was an engineering specialist at Goodyear Aerospace (now part of Lockheed-Martin), where she led proposal and R & D contracts that explored high-temperature polyurethanes, low modulus polymers and ablative epoxies.  She also studied polymer stabilization, spectral property modification, and failure analysis.

BSI is pleased to announce that effective June 28th, Rick Kinnard has accepted a position as Account Manager in the Midwest Division, reporting to Darrell Christopher.  Rick is located near Milwaukee and will cover Wisconsin and Minnesota for Brenntag Specialties, Inc.  Rick has a Bachelors Degree in Chemistry from St. Norbert College and a Masters Degree in Chemistry from Michigan Tech.  He started his career as a development chemist with Polyone in Wisconsin before joining Mozel Inc. in 2001.  He remained with Mozel through the Univar acquisition and has most recently been calling on the ACES, Personal Care and HI&I accounts in Wisconsin.

BSI is pleased to announce that we have hired Mr. Darrell Christopher for the position of Regional Manager, Midwest, reporting to Rich Stewart.  Darrell comes to BSI with product knowledge and market experience directly applicable BSI's core markets in Chicago and the surrounding states.  For the past four years Darrell has been a Key Account Manager for ISP's Performance Chemicals and Biocides business.  In that assignment, he worked in the CASE, HI&I, Pharma, and Personal Care markets, calling on key Accounts such as 3M, Valspar, Sherwin Williams, Akzo Nobel/ICI, SC Johnson and Johnson Diversey.   Prior to joining ISP, he worked for both InChem Corporation and Mozel Incorporated.

The sales personnel in the Midwest region, Rob Golob, Tommy Dressel, Steve Kody and Tim Kukuk will report to Darrell.  He will begin his employment on April 12th.

Darrell is a graduate of the University of Illinois and lifelong resident of Chicago.

BSI is pleased to announce that, effective October 19, 2009; Mr. Norman Schute has joined Brenntag in the role of Technical Service/Business Development Manager for Food.

Norman will have a dual role by sharing his time between supporting the BNA Food Specialty Sales team and the BSI Marketing team. Norman will report to Mr. Bret Horace for technical marketing activities supporting the North American Food Specialties team.  In his activities specific to the Ashland/Aqualon line, and our joint efforts around Food Ingredients & Hydrocolloid blending technologies, Norman will report to Mr. Lew Clark.  Norman’s background in hydrocolloid functionality enables Brenntag to have a valuable asset in our development of the Cellulose Gum portfolio from Ashland/Aqualon. 

Norman earned a B.A. degree in Biological Sciences from the University of California - San Diego and started his career as a Sales Representative with CP Kelco.  He then took a role as Senior Project Leader for Danisco, based outside of Kansas City, focusing on Culinary & Meat and Fats & Oils groups in Innovation with primary responsibility for applications development.  His career then took him to Dow in 2006 as a Sr. Technical Account Manager for Cellulosics. 

BSI is pleased to announce that Mr. Jay Fitzpatrick has been appointed Regional Sales Manager for the Western Region.

In his most recent position, Jay led the Advanced Materials group of the specialty chemical distributor E. T. Horn Company based in La Mirada, California.  In 1997 Jay helped establish what was then a new business unit at Horn focused on developmental markets including polyurethane elastomers and foam, composites and structural adhesives.

Before joining E. T. Horn in 1994, Jay worked in 3M's ceramic microspheres business and before that was with Bayer's polyurethane coatings group.  As a sales manager in each of those companies he helped develop and manage the specialty distribution routes to market.  His background in principal development and knowledge of the customers and markets on the West Coast, will contribute significantly to BSI's growth in our Western Region and throughout North America in several key Advanced Materials markets.

In addition to his role as Regional Manager, Jay will also keep his position as Market Development Manager - Advanced Materials, reporting to Ted Hubbard. 

Jimmy Keeffe - Market Manager - Composites

BSI is pleased to announce that Mr. Jim (Jimmy) Keeffe has joined BSI as Marketing Manager – Composites, effective May 26, 2009. 

Jimmy has worked in the Composites marketplace his entire career as he helped build the Northeast Composite business for Mohogany, which later became North American Composites.  His most recent position with NAC was Vice President of Sales and Marketing.  Jimmy will be responsible for broadening our product portfolio and also expand our sales effort into many new areas of the composites market where we have not participated in the past.
